What Customers Say
My first 1911 and my first Kimber. Great pistol. Looked at a lot of 1911s and decided I wanted one that wasn’t going to need later upgrades to become what I wanted, I just wanted to buy the finished product right away. Fit and finish is terrific as is Kimber’s reputation. A bit concerning that the very first round at the range was a misfeed (Blazer Brass) but after that no problems so far during break-in. I was surprised that they didn’t even attempt to line up the Crimson Trace out of the box (about 6″ left at 15yds). The mass of the stainless frame is perfectly balanced and feels natural with the 5″ barrel. I’ve been using a Springfield XDM .40 and the polymer body just has too much recoil for my carpal tunnel. This larger caliber, stainless frame is much more enjoyable to put several hundred rounds down range. Field stripping and reassembly is easy. Just an all around pleasure to shoot. Well worth the money.

Key Features of the Kimber Master Carry Custom
Crimson Trace Lasergrips
One of the standout features of the Kimber Master Carry Custom is its Crimson Trace Lasergrips. And let me tell you, these aren’t just gimmicky add-ons—they’re game-changers. The laser integrates seamlessly into the grip, so you don’t feel like you’re handling some Franken-gun. Once dialed in, the laser projects a sharp red dot, making target acquisition almost too easy. In low-light situations, this feature shines (literally), giving you an edge when seconds count.
What I love about the Lasergrips is the way they’re crafted. The textured rubber grip feels like it was made for my hand. Whether I’m out on the range or caught in sweaty conditions during a summer carry, this gun stays firmly in place. It’s a small detail, but one that speaks volumes when you’re relying on your firearm in high-stress moments.
Full-Size 1911 Frame
I’ve always had a soft spot for full-size 1911s, and the Kimber Master Carry Custom delivers on all fronts. Despite being “full-size,” it feels surprisingly balanced in the hand. The weight isn’t overwhelming; instead, it’s reassuring—a solid reminder of the quality in your grip.
The frame’s design contributes to its accuracy, too. That longer sight radius makes aligning shots almost instinctive, and the stainless steel frame with matte black accents? Chef’s kiss. This is the kind of pistol you take to the range, and everyone stops to ask about it. It’s a blend of performance and looks that’s hard to beat.
Match-Grade Barrel and Trigger
Let’s talk about accuracy—because if you’re anything like me, that’s a top priority. The match-grade barrel on the Kimber Master Carry Custom is a marvel. It’s not just about hitting the target; it’s about hitting exactly where you aim, shot after shot. Whether you’re punching tight groups into paper or practicing for real-world scenarios, this barrel delivers.

And then there’s the trigger. Oh man, the trigger. It’s crisp, clean, and breaks like a dream at around 4 to 5 pounds. There’s no creep, no sponginess—just pure, reliable performance every time. Honestly, it’s one of those features that makes you fall in love with shooting all over again.
Tritium Night Sights
Here’s the deal: if you’ve ever tried aiming in low light with standard sights, you know it’s no picnic. That’s why I’m a big fan of the tritium night sights on this Kimber. These babies glow in the dark, ensuring you can stay on target no matter the lighting conditions.
They’re also snag-free, which is a huge plus for concealed carry. The last thing you want is your sight catching on your clothing during a quick draw. Durable, reliable, and ready when you are—that’s how I’d describe these sights.
Custom Shop Craftsmanship
If you know Kimber, you know their Custom Shop means business. The Master Carry Custom is no exception. This isn’t just a production-line pistol; it’s a work of art. Everything, from the slide-to-frame fit to the checkering on the front strap, screams attention to detail.
One feature I appreciate more than I thought I would is the beveled magazine well. Reloading feels smoother, faster, and just… better. And honestly? The craftsmanship is what makes this pistol stand out in my collection. It’s not just a tool; it’s a statement piece.
Final Thoughts
The Kimber Master Carry Custom is not perfect. It’s on the heavier side, and the price might make some folks wince. But the way it performs? The way it feels in your hand? That’s where this pistol earns its stripes. If you’re someone who values quality over quantity and appreciates the finer details, this is the handgun for you. From its Lasergrips to its Custom Shop craftsmanship, the Kimber Master Carry Custom is a masterclass in what a 1911 can be. Whether it’s on your hip, at the range, or proudly displayed in your collection, this pistol delivers in spades.
So, is it worth the investment? For me, the answer is a resounding yes. But hey, don’t just take my word for it. Get your hands on one and feel the difference yourself. Just be warned: once you go Kimber, there’s no going back.

just bought one today,7/9/13. paid $1,300.00 at Shoot Straight Guns in Apopka FL. hard too break down, laser in position such that index finger(trigger finger) must be placed further down on frame, just outside trigger guard too keep from blocking beam. this issue will be easy too adjust to,hopefully after break in period the field stripping will be easier, rather tight now. that said, all else (cycling, slide action, accuracy, recoil) is exactly what is expected of a Kimber. a real nail driver! beautifull too !
