Optics
Excellent optics allow you to see your target clearly, no matter if you’re aiming under the bright sun or in low light. You want a sight that brings your target into sharp relief, with colors that pop and details that stand out, making it easier to hit your mark every time.
How do we rate it?
We rate this factor based on clarity, range of visibility, and how well they maintain accuracy across various lighting conditions.
Build Quality
Get a sight with sturdy construction so that it can handle daily use and abuse, especially if you shoot regularly. Durability and resistance to wear, shock, and water are key components of build quality. High-quality materials and construction ensure the sight can withstand rough handling and adverse conditions.
How do we rate it?
We score build quality based on materials used, design robustness, waterproof and shockproof ratings, and overall longevity.
Ergonomics
A good sight should feel like an extension of your Glock. How the sight fits with the firearm and its usability, including ease of installation, adjustments, and operation.
You don’t want your sight to add more weight than the acceptable amount, especially for concealed carry. You’d also want it not to be sharp around edges to avoid snagging your clothes every time you draw your gun. A bulky sight will also be difficult to conceal.
How do we rate it?
We rate this factor based on installation simplicity, ease of use, adjustability, and how well the sight integrates with the Glock’s design.
Battery
Illuminated Glock sights can consume a lot of battery unless they’re radioactive like tritium. And even with tritium your sights will dim with time. So, you want to have a site that has a battery life of at least 10,000 hours. This will hold battery changes until after a year or two for battery-operated units like a red dot. It’s better if you can get an optic with 50,000 hours of battery life, but you’d need to spend a bit more for that.
If you find changing batteries and charging your optic bothersome, you can also go for tritium-powered sights like some of our picks below, but there is a downside! For tritium or other technologies, expect to need to replace your sights for maximum brightness after 5+ years!
How do we rate it?
We give higher scores to sights that have longer battery life under normal use conditions. We also evaluate availability and cost of replacements.
Illumination
Consider the front and rear dot’s size and brightness settings. Some sights are designed so that the front dot is brighter and bigger to make it easier to focus out and on your target. This setup also promotes fast target acquisition.

Most of our picks below are night vision compatible. Their dots are also the brightest and long-lasting in the market. So even if you spend a little more, it will be worth it.
How do we rate it?
We evaluate the brightness levels, daylight visibility, and reticle clarity. A score of 5 means excellent visibility in both bright sunlight and low light conditions, and a reticle that remains sharp and defined.

What Customers Say
These were a nice upgrade for a Glock 26. The tritium is nice and bright and both front and rear sights fit perfectly. Sometimes rear sights have to be sanded a little to get them in. I didn’t have to alter this one at all. Went in half way by hand, then used a sight pusher to finish. I also like that this one has a set screw to lock it in place. rbtharris

“This easily mounted on my M&P C.O.R.E. 9mm, and co-witnesses with the iron sights. It was almost on target right out of the box, requiring only a minor adjustment. I use it mostly for steel-plate and bowling-pin competition shooting, and I can get on-target very quickly.”

How to Install a Glock Sight?
Here’s how:
- Uninstall the factory front sight using the Glock install tool.
- Degrease both the slide and the new front sight.
- Apply a red threadlocker to the screw and the sight’s bottom. Always apply threadlocker to the inside of the Glock install tool so the screw stays in place.
- Screw the sight onto the slide. DO NOT overtighten the screw.
- Insert the slide into a gun vise, then remove the factory rear sight using a hammer and a non-marring punch.
- Degrease the slide and the new rear sight.
- Get a ruler and a pencil. Find the center of your slide and mark it.
- Install the rear sight. If it’s a tight fit, you might need to file the sight’s bottom a little.
- Tighten the set screws using an Allen key.
- Apply a red threadlocker to the joints around the slide and the sights. Be careful not to cover the screws with threadlocker.
- Threadlocker curing takes about 15 minutes.
