What Customers Say
This is a very nice midsize pistol. It shoots and feels great in the hand. The only negatives I have to say are that the trigger has a long take up and a long reset that I found to be a very disappointing trigger pull. Also magazines are quite expensive

Heckler & Koch P2000 First Impression
The HK P2000’s grip is one of the first things that stood out for us. With those interchangeable backstraps, it’s easy to find a fit that feels just right. It’s secure without being too rough, which makes shooting comfortable and natural. And then there’s the build quality, from the first hold, it’s clear this is a well-crafted piece. The materials feel solid and reliable, with that signature HK attention to detail in the milling and finish. It really does look and feel like a serious, top-quality firearm.
Heckler & Koch P2000 Features
Modular Grip
One of the things we really appreciate about the HK P2000 is its modular grip. With interchangeable backstraps in sizes from small to extra-large, it’s designed to fit a variety of hand sizes, so you can easily find the one that feels just right for you. We love that this feature really enhances control, too. No more awkward adjustments or straining to reach the trigger. Instead, it feels like a natural extension of your hand, giving you confidence and better handling, especially for longer shooting sessions.
Trigger System
Another aspect of the HK P2000 that stands out to us is the flexibility in its trigger systems. You can choose between the traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA) trigger or opt for the Law Enforcement Modification (LEM) trigger system. We find this choice really valuable because it lets you tailor the shooting experience to your preference. We appreciate the LEM system as it provides a consistent trigger pull from the first to the last round, which makes each shot feel predictably smooth. The reduced trigger pull weight with the LEM not only enhances the overall shooting performance but also makes it easier to maintain accuracy and control. It’s clear that HK put thought into offering options that can suit different shooters, and that’s something we appreciate.
Barrel
The P2000’s barrel is cold hammer-forged with a polygonal design, which boosts accuracy, extends its lifespan, and makes it easier to clean. It operates on a recoil-driven, locked-breech system using a modified Browning-style linkless cam action, much like other popular HK models like the USP.
Comprehensive Safety
The P2000 is packed with safety features, including a firing pin block, drop safety, and a hammer intercept notch, all working together to prevent accidental discharges and keep you secure.

Conclusion
In wrapping up our look at the Heckler & Koch P2000, I’d say this compact, reliable handgun feels like a solid choice for those who value precision and durability without extra flash. It’s got that classic HK feel, no-nonsense, efficient, and well-built, which could be ideal if you’re after something straightforward yet high-performing. The P2000 might not have the bells and whistles of newer models, but for those who prioritize reliability and a proven design, it certainly holds its own.
