8 out of 10 rating

If you’re looking for a pistol that combines power, precision, and that unmistakable STI edge (pun intended!), then stick around. This review dives into why the STI Edge has earned its stripes in the shooting world—from competitive circuits to law enforcement. Before we jump into what makes the STI Edge such a standout, let’s rewind a bit. STI International, now known as Staccato, made a name for itself by crafting high-performance 1911 and 2011 pistols that fuse competition-level precision with tactical functionality. Originally aimed at competitive shooters, the Edge quickly became popular with law enforcement and enthusiasts alike, thanks to its reliability and adaptability. Today, it’s still one of the top choices for those who want serious firepower and finesse wrapped up in one solid piece.

Whether you’re curious about its performance, reliability, or just want to know if it’s worth the hype, this article has the lowdown you need!

Manufacturer’s Description

STI Edge left side photo

STI‘s Edge model is a double-stack 1911 chambered in 9mm, .38 Super, .40 SW or .45 ACP. Built on a modular steel frame with polymer grip, the Eagle delivers the traditional features of a 1911 and allows the added benefit of high capacity magazines. The frame design preserves the 17-degree grip angle relative to the slide original to the 1911. The essential design element for high capacity, the polymer grip, allows for double stack magazines without over-sizing the circumference of the grip, which remains comparatively the same as the circumference of a 1911.
True to 1911 tradition, the Edge has a unique full length slide with front and rear cocking serrations, an STI dovetailed front sight and an STI adjustable rear sight. The Edge comes standard with a stainless steel STI knuckle relief hi-ride grip safety, and stainless steel STI ambi-thumb safeties. It comes with an STI stainless steel fully supported, ramped bull barrel. You can add custom serial numbers, colored grips and triggers, hard chrome, engraving inlays and fiber optic or tritium sights. It’s finished in blue.
